It’s been long rumoured, but LA Noire’s arrival in the current gen of gaming has today been confirmed by Rockstar. A remastered version will come to PS4 and Xbox One while the Switch will get the standard version but with Switch-specific features.
Released back in 2011, LA Noire was lauded for its highly-detailed facial models, which were used as part of the game’s main gameplay mechanic. Interrogating suspects and telling whether they were lying or not was a big selling point for the noir game set in the 1940s, so who knows how crisp they will look with a fresh lick of paint.
The Xbox One and PS4 remasters will come with all the DLC and updated graphic, including 1080p on both base PS4 and Xbox One consoles while the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X will deliver 4K. There’s going to be some very realistic smirking and frowning this time out.
The Nintendo Switch version, meanwhile, won’t be getting significantly updated graphics, but will be getting HD rumble, gesture controls, and touch-based controls when the Switch is in portable mode. Would love to hear more about how exactly that works, but Rockstar are keeping tight-lipped for the time being – they will release more over the coming weeks.
There will also be a HTC Vive version of the game, which will be Rockstar’s first dalliance with VR. LA Noire: The VR Case Files will rebuild the original game specifically for VR, but that’s all we know for the time being.
Team Bondi, the Australian developers behind the original game, are now extinct; Rockstar have not yet detailed who will be stepping up for the raft of ports.
LA Noire will arrive on PS4, XB1, Switch, and Vive on November 14th. Will you be getting it?
