Body swapping sounds mildly amusing until five teenagers begin discovering precisely what their friends have been hiding. Kokoro Connect then adds involuntary age regression, exposed impulses and an entity treating adolescent trauma as after-school entertainment. The Cultural Research Club really should have chosen chess.
When Is Kokoro Connect: Season 2 Coming Out?
Sad news: Kokoro Connect: Season 2 has not been officially announced and has no confirmed release date as of October 2026. And you should probably stop holding your breath.
The first and most recent television season ended on 30 September 2012 after 13 broadcast episodes. Four additional Michi Random episodes were shown together on AT-X on 30 December 2012 and released as OVAs, extending the adaptation to 17 episodes overall. They were not a second season or the back half of a split cour. AT-X’s current catalogue likewise describes the production as 13 TV episodes plus four OVAs.
No film or further animated instalment has followed. The original anime website is no longer actively maintained, and no sequel announcement could be found from Kadokawa, Silver Link or another production source. With nearly fourteen years passing since Michi Random, assigning Season 2 a speculative release window would be particularly ambitious.
What Could Kokoro Connect: Season 2 Be About?
A sequel could begin a new school year, introduce two additional club members and give Heartseed another opportunity to interfere.
The anime adapts the first four main light novels, ending with Michi Random. The following book is a short-story collection, so another season could either select relevant material from it or move into Volume 6, Nise Random.
That volume introduces first-year students Shino Enjouji and Chihiro Uwa, whose arrival changes the Cultural Research Club’s familiar five-person dynamic. A new supernatural phenomenon creates an impostor problem and tests whether the newcomers can trust a group already carrying rather unusual shared history.
Later novels continue experimenting with the club through visions of other people’s hopes, widespread memory problems and increasingly serious confrontations with the entities responsible. There is enough material for substantially more anime; the missing ingredient remains an actual production decision.
Where Can You Watch Kokoro Connect?
Annoyingly, neither the UK nor US currently has a verified legal streaming or digital-purchase option.
The October 2026 UK listing and US listing both report the series unavailable, despite Crunchyroll retaining a general international series page.
Legal access to the four Michi Random OVAs could not be confirmed in either country. Older guides mentioning Crunchyroll or Prime Video are therefore no longer reliable for domestic availability.
Can You Read The Books While You Wait?
Yes. J-Novel Club has published the complete 11-volume light-novel series digitally in English.
The official series page identifies Volume 6: Nise Random as the point where readers can continue after the anime. Starting with Volume 1 remains worthwhile for omitted details, while Volume 5 supplies side stories between the animated and later arcs.
Seven Seas also released a five-volume English manga adaptation, but it covers only part of the story and is not a substitute for the completed source novels. The books, unlike Heartseed, eventually explain where all this is going.
