Keanu Reeves, while doing an interview for BBC’s The One Show, shared some details about the fourth Matrix film, which he is currently filming in Germany. He praised director Lana Wachowski, who worked on the original Matrix trilogy, for her beautiful script, calling it inspiring as well as a love story.

Reeves has said before that one of the main reasons why he returned to do the fourth film is because of Wachowski’s script, so it’s really no surprise that he continues to laud her work and writing.

When prompted by guest host Ronan Keating on whether this fourth movie is a prequel – since Reeves’ character Neo died at the end of the third movie, leaving all of us a little confused as to how he, and Carrie Ann Moss’ Trinity, is back – Reeves said it takes place after the events of the third film, and will move the narrative firmly forward.

He also added cryptically that the film is “a call to wake up”, but will also serve to entertain with awesome action sequences.

Reeves’ passion and excitement is evident; I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly looking forward to seeing where Neo’s journey brings him next. Personally, I feel it’s going to a rumination on the afterlife with sci-fi elements, kind of like Alex Garland’s TV show Devs. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
