IO Interactive Partnering With Warner Bros. For New Console & PC Game

It's not Hitman 3.

IO Interactive

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and IO Interactive have announced that they will be partnering together for the worldwide publishing and distribution of a new console and PC title that’s yet to be announced. This new game will make use of both of IO Interactive’s Scandinavian development studios, IOI Copenhagen in Denmark and IOI Malmö in Sweden.

IO Interactive and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have worked together a lot over the past year, as WB has published the likes of Hitman 2, Hitman: Definitive Edition and Hitman HD Enhanced Collection. While that track record might lead you to believe that this new title is going to be Hitman 3, the press release suggests otherwise.

Hakan Abrak, CEO of IO Interactive, points to the intention of creating a brand new world, basically confirming this will be a new IP for the studio: “IO Interactive has a proud history of creating compelling characters and universes for our players to enjoy—it’s in our DNA. As we embark on this exciting project to create a new universe for IOI together with Warner Bros., we’re currently looking for ambitious talent to join our team in our Copenhagen and Malmö studios for this extraordinary journey.”

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment President David Haddad is equally optimistic about the future of this collaboration: “IO Interactive has a longstanding legacy of creating iconic games, and we’re looking forward to partnering on this next endeavour to bring a new console and PC gaming experience to players globally.”

While this announcement might not be favourable for those looking forward to Hitman 3 or the long requested Freedom Fighters sequel (do it you massive cowards), it’ll be interesting to see IO Interactive tackle something new. We look forward to hearing more about this game in the coming months.
