Guild Wars 2 Players Have Been Marching For Pride Month

Guild Wars 2 users have been organising their own Pride Marches throughout all of June for Pride Month, including dyeing their armour in rainbow hues to march all over Tyria to celebrate LGBT+ love and acceptance.

These player-led marches include players from all over the world coming together to march in support of Pride Month–June is recognised internationally as LGBT+ Pride Month as it’s the month in which the Stonewall Riots (a series of LGBT+ riots which demonstrated against the criminilisation of homosexuality) took place, back in 1969.

Though Guild Wars 2 has limited in-game romance options, many players roleplay their character(s) as LGBT+ heroes, or are simply marching as they wish to celebrate and promote real-world acceptance and tolerance with their online friends in Tyria.

The Pride Marches aren’t officially organised by anyone at ArenaNet, so if you want to get involved, you should check out social media to see when the next march will take place: people are using the hashtags #GW2Pride to organise marches, and ArenaNet are posting user-submitted screenshots of the marches across all of their social media accounts. You don’t need to do anything special to join in, just dye your armour with your most colourful dyes, and find where the nearest in-game march is taking place. It’s certainly a sight to see a host of rainbow-clad champions from all races and professions marching across Tyria, and it certainly brightens up the map as they wander across the lands to celebrate love and diversity both inside the game and in our own real-world lives.

Have you joined in with any of the in-game marches, or do you plan to search the #GW2Pride tag to find a march happening in your server? Do you have any rainbow screenshots to share with us? Let us know in the comments below!
