GTA Online Gets Apocalyptic With The Doomsday Heist

GTA Online

There’s never a dull moment in San Andreas, especially with GTA Online. If you’re not running drugs out in the sticks, you’re robbing banks in Downtown Los Santos or smashing planes into each other at the airport. But the fun is over now. Now it’s time to save San Andreas from nuclear Armageddon. No pressure.

Rockstar have announced The Doomsday Heist, a new series of missions for GTA V’s Online component centred around a billionaire tech mogul named Avon, who firmly believes that someone is trying to start a nuclear war, and it might be the Russians. Or the North Koreans. Or the Chinese. But it’s definitely someone, and it’s on you to stop them. Rockstar describes the missions as follows:

“As apocalyptic threats mount from enemies unknown, you and your criminal crew are enlisted to un-tangle mysteries and eradicate threats spanning from the bustling streets of downtown Los Santos to the ocean floor and all the way to the inner depths of Mount Chiliad in an epic new online adventure.”

If the trailer is anything to go by, epic doesn’t begin to cover things, as we get to see everything from flying cars, submarine cars, jetpacks, ballistic missiles, air strikes and an AI named Clifford. Rockstar have gone all out for this, possibly creating one of the most insane content packs ever. Remember when GTA Online was about stealing drugs and killing gangbangers? No, me neither.

The update is set to go live on December 12th, and the trailer seems to hint that the Mobile Operations Center from the Gunrunning update will factor in to things. It’s likely that GTA Online players will have to own a certain amount of equipment before they can begin these missions, so you better get grinding. Are you excited for The Doomsday Heist? Check out the trailer and sound off in the comments.
