Cats are a new animal added for Iki island in Ghost of Tsushima.
Cats can mostly be found at Cat Sanctuaries, which are dotted across the map. The Wind of Harmony technique will show you the location of the sanctuaries on the map.
While not necessarily the first Cat Sanctuary you will come across, its proximity to the main quests means that the first Cat Sanctuary you’ll come across will be one that is to the south of Fort Sakai.
Walk up to the circle on the floor, then press R2. Jin will be ambushed by dogs and a shaman or two, so dodge constantly to get out of the way of their unblockable attacks, then focus on the shamans. Return to the flute circle to continue with the mini-game.
Keep the song in the green by moving your controller up and down and then you will have completed the Cat Sanctuary, unlocking the ability to pet any cats around too. Walk up to a cat and press R2 to pet them, with them looking like they are also nibbling on Jin’s gear. Nice.
You will also unlock Charm of Nekoma’s Hunt, a Stealth Charm that allows you to throw Kunai at targets during Chain Assassinations.
Unlocking more Cat Sanctuaries will allow you to upgrade Charm of Nekoma’s Hunt.
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut is available now on PS5 and PS4.
