It Looks Like Fortnite’s Zombies Are Returning In Season 9

But wait, it might not be that bad.

Fortnite

Every so often, Epic Games get this wild idea where they think that Fortnite: Battle Royale should have zombies similar to Save The World. It’s never gone down too well with them interfering constantly with normal play, or just being a general nuisance. It looks like Epic are now going to be testing the patience of players once again, but with the saving grace that it may just all be a part of an LTM.

As part of datamining which has seen a tonne of new skins being found in the files, a Loading Screen depicting zombies was also found, triggering the worst of fears. The below and every leak following comes courtesy of @FortTory.

The above depicts the as yet unreleased Scimitar and Sandstorm skins fighting back zombies, as well as Wilde and the pug skin in the background.

However, it soon became clear that the zombies were being brought back to Fortnite as part of an LTM, which they arguably always should have been.

Files have been discovered that detail something called ‘Mash’, as in the Monster Mash. Get it? This LTM will feature a small squad of four and be similar to something like COD Zombies or Left 4 Dead.

Here’s the description.

‘Fortnite Fiends are back on the island and angrier than ever! Fight alongside your teammates to rack up your score by finding hidden score multipliers, opening special loot chests, and elimination as many monsters as you can. Traverse across the map, survive all of the Defend locations and take down the Final Boss to win!

Can you make it all the way to the end and set a new high score? Ready up and find out!’

And here are some assets found for Mash.

On top of that, it looks like we will also be getting special Mash challenges, this time called Horde Rush challenges.

Phew, so it looks like we will spared “proper” zombies this season.

First introduced as part of Season 6 and the Fortnitemares event, zombies (or Cube Fiends or Fortnite Fiends) made a return during Season 7 as well as part of the Ice King’s takeover. They can knock down your buildings and swarm you if they get too close, so they’ve never been something any two Fortnite players have been able to agree on.

You glad to see them returning as an LTM?
