Since first being featured way back in Chapter 1, it felt inevitable that a Thanos skin would be coming to Fortnite at some point down the line. While it’s perhaps two years too late, you can finally claim the big purple bad for your Locker in Fortnite, and all for free.
To do so, you must complete in the Thanos Cup, a tourament for Duo teams and place higher than most. As with all of these collaboration tournaments, you’ll have to be at the very top of your game to have any chance of getting Thanos without spending a dime.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Thanos Cup in Fortnite.
When Does The Thanos Cup Take Place?
The Thanos Cup will take place on June 21st, 2021 at different times per region.
Be sure that you log in on the day itself to check the times in your region. Once you know, make sure you are logged in and ready to take part in the Thanos Cup at least fifteen minutes before it officially begins.
How Do I Unlock the Thanos Skin For Free?
As mentioned, you have to place very high in the rankings to have a chance of getting the Thanos skin. You have three hours and ten matches to get as high a score as you can by outlasting and eliminating opponents.

Here’s what you get for each placement per region in the Thanos Cup:
Europe
1st – 3,375th: “Thanos” In-Game Cosmetic Outfit and Back Bling
NA East
1st – 1,575th: “Thanos” In-Game Cosmetic Outfit and Back Bling

You will also get one point per elimination over the course of the Thanos Cup.
As a bonus, any teams that get just eight points will unlock the “Thanos Watches!” Cosmetic Spray. You could get eight points for just being AFK, so it’s a very easy prize to unlock.
Bear in mind that you will need to have 2FA enabled and your account also must be at least level 30 before you can take part in the Thanos Cup, and that you’ll also need to have 2FA enabled.

Will Thanos Come To The Item Shop?
Thanos will indeed be coming to the Fortnite Item Shop this June, as he will be available from 8pm ET on June 26, 2021. As a big crossover skin, expect him to hang around in the Item Shop for at least a week.
As well as the skin, players will also be able to buy the Infinity Gauntlet Back Bling. Prices have yet to be detailed, but based on prices for other crossover skins, Thanos should cost you 1500 V-Bucks with the bundle costing more if you want all of the items.
