Fortnite 2: Season 1 – Dockyard Deal: Deal Any Damage To Opponents By Shooting Exploding Gas Pumps

Boom.

Week 4 of Fortnite Chapter 2, Season 1 has arrived, dropping the fourth mission for the season, ‘Dockyard Deal’. Another solid and interesting week of challenges, proving Epic is really on top of their game this season.

This guide will focus on the ‘Deal any damage to opponents by shooting exploding gas pumps’ challenge. This is the fifth challenge of the mission, which means you’ll need to complete two previous challenges in the Dockyard Deal mission to unlock it. This mission is fairly unique as far as the usual slew of challenges are concerned. This challenge takes the form of some amalgamation of a landmark challenge and a damage challenge.

To complete this challenge, you’ll need to locate a gas station and lure an opponent there (or find one there, which is the far more likely outcome). Once they’re there, you need to shoot the gas pumps at the gas station until they have no health, at which time they’ll catch fire and detonate shortly after. This detonation is what you need to hit your opponent with to complete the challenge.

As some of you may imagine, completing this challenge might prove extremely troublesome as there are a fair few limits to achieving this quickly. The first issue that you need to have an encounter is a very low traffic area. The gas stations do not contain much stuff and are generally out in the middle of nowhere (with some exceptions). The second issue is that you need to have a close range engagement next to the pumps, survive long enough to shoot the pumps and then hope your opponent lacks the awareness to notice and leave the area as the detonation isn’t that large.

This really only leaves one viable option for getting this done quickly: aim to complete this challenge the moment the mission drops as there will be a respectable amount of players in the vicinity of the gas stations also trying to complete it. Below is a map with all the gas stations we found.

Gas Stations Map

All the gas stations we found are circled in red and we found five in total. As you can see, most of them tend to be clustered in the north half of the map around the central area. Some of the gas stations are named so we’ll go through them based on their closed named location.

Craggy Cliffs

Directly south of Craggy Cliffs is a large bridge that crosses over a river. On the eastern side of this river is a gas station right next to the bridge. You’ll find it at D2 on the main map’s grid.

Frenzy Farm East

To the east of Frenzy Farm is a small river, cross this river and you’ll find yourself on a large island surrounded by a forking river. In the direct centre of this river is a rather large red brick gas station. G4 on the main map’s grid.

Frenzy Farm South

To the south of Frenzy Farm across one of the map’s central rivers is a gas station with an arterial river nearby to its east. You’ll find this gas station at F5 on the main map’s grid.

Holly Hedges

Fortnite Holly Hedges

On the far western edge of the map is Holly Hedges. Even further east of Holly Hedges is a road that travels north-south along the edge of the map, you will find a gas station on this road. A5 on the main map’s grid.

Salty Springs

Fortnite Salty Springs

Salty Springs is the closest gas station to a named location, located within Salty Springs itself. Because of this, this is actually the best gas station to attempt to complete the challenge as it will be naturally more trafficked than the other stations due to being in such close proximity to a named location and therefore loot. You can find it on the northern side of Salty Springs, located at D4 on the main map’s grid.

Remember, you need to cause damage with the gas pump detonation to receive credit, which means your enemy needs to be hit by the explosion and you need to be the one to cause the explosion by damaging the pump enough (80 health) to set it on fire. Some stations are more conductive than others and their pumps are in close enough proximity to cause a chain reaction from one explosion.

Regardless, the most difficult part of this challenge is having a close range engagement in the station. Do it as early as possible while there is considerable traffic around them and attempt for Salty Springs as it will have the most players in general and later on as the challenge becomes less popular.
