Fortnite OG: Is the Pump Shotgun Back?

Fortnite isn’t Fortnite without the Pump Shotgun. Feared and beloved in equal measure, the early incarnations of the Pump Shotgun were synonymous with the game thanks to its huge damage and risk/reward nature. After being vaulted for years, is it finally time for Epic to delve back into the loot pool and unleash the Pump Shotgun once again?

Yep, the Pump Shotgun is back in Fortnite for Fortnite OG as of the V27.00 update on November 3rd, 2023, with the Assault Rifle and Hunting Rifle also being unvaulted for some of that sweet nostalgia.

It’s worth bearing in mind here that while the Pump Shotgun is back, it isn’t the exact same model as it was in Chapter 1 itself, with that model seemingly no longer existing. The same goes for the Hunting Rifle and Assault Rifle.

Still, this is a weapon that can once again one-shot fully shielded enemies with a headshot, though you will need a Legendary. The OG Pump will do the following damage with a headshot: 147 (Common), 161 (Uncommmon), 175 (Rare), 189 (Epic), 203 (Legendary). In terms of body damage, it will do 84 (Common), 92 (Uncommmon), 100 (Rare), 108 (Epic), 116 (Legendary), which is still nothing to be sniffed at.

It’s been a long, long time coming for the Pump Shotgun to make its return to Fortnite. Once a fixture of Fortnite’s arsenal from the very beginning, Epic decided to vault and unvault the weapon on a fairly regular basis and experiment with other shotguns to try and wean the playerbase off using it so often. The last time we saw it in a regular match of Fortnite was way back at the start of Chapter 3 over a year ago, and while it’s been available in Creative and Late Game Arena in the time since, it’s not been quite the same without the Pump in normal matches.

Time will only tell if Epic will keep the Pump beyond this season and into Chapter 5 (we’re gonna guess that they won’t), so savour it while you can.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Android.
