Fortnite Festival is finally here, the last huge game within a game coming to Fortnite during Chapter – Season 1. Basically Guitar Hero within Fortnite, players are asked to hit inputs to the beat of the music to rack up combos and high scores, and it’s just really a lot of fun. However, the default controls are, uh, interesting, with controller players being asked to use the d-pad. We’d recommend that you change that.
To change the controls in Fortnite, go into your social menu (your icon in the top right in lobbies) then hit the gear icon, or pause then do the same from there. Keep flicking right through the options until you get to either Keyboard Controls or Controller Mapping, depending on your input. On the left, choose Main Stage from either Main Stage (Easy, Medium, Hard) or Main Stage (Expert) — the highest difficulty, Expert, has one extra button you have to press.
We would recommend that you use either WASD or 1,2,3,4 on a keyboard, and just the face buttons (triangle, square etc) on a controller to replicate the classic look of Guitar Hero. If you’re playing on Expert, just choose a close letter on the keyboard or one of the trigger buttons (like R1) on a controller.
Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
