Electronic Essentials of the Week: Mord Fustang, Lido, Pep & Rash

Electronic music is known for its huge variety of sounds and styles, with thousands upon thousands of ever-different tracks being released every day. It is often impossible to know where to start so each week we will be selecting the best of the best in the scene to help you get the most out of one of the most varied and unpredictable genres.

Mord Fustang – Murmurs EP

The talents of Estonian producer Mord Fustang are finally recognised, by none other than Deadmau5’s label Mau5trap, with an EP that contains some of his most diverse work to date, and all within just three tracks. While ‘Falling Up’ is vintage Mord, with perfectly fitting vocal chops and an uplifting melody, ‘Murmurs’ and especially ‘Flip The Bacon’ venture away from what we have come to expect from the producer. Showcasing ambitious beats and epic sounds that work wonders, this EP proves his versatility and the bold outlook he has withing the scene.

Yellow Claw & Flux Pavilion – Catch Me feat. Naaz

The hype continues to build for Dutch trap masters Yellow Claw’s debut album, Blood for Mercy, which drops on November 20th, through the release of this monster collaboration with Flux Pavilion. As can be expected, the long time legends of the electronic scene bring along the genre-pushing work that they’re known for. High pitched screeches and a beat that storms through trap, moombah and hardstyle, together with great vocal work from Naaz, is sure to bring out those trap arms.

Deadmau5 – Imaginary Friends

Deadmau5 emerges from his many months of Twitter beef and incredible live shows with a mind blowing piece that is nearly indescribable in its breathtakingness. Made during a 7 hour livestream, the Canadian producer simply lets the music do the talking, with a suitably epic intro of sounds that you just have to hear to believe, while the drop is just as unrelenting and incredible. This promises great things for his next album which we hope to hear in 2016.

Lido – Here (Thoughts From A Tour Bus)

The ever smooth Lido sneaks one last track onto Soundcloud, after having his account frozen, ahead of his album and it is ever so catchy. Mellow and emotional, this is one of those gems that only an endlessly talented producer like Lido could create; toeing the line between Blues and Electronic to perfection. A buttery suave tune that is just irresistible to the ears and will be on repeat for weeks to come.

Speed Round
– Riff Raff – Tip Toe Wing in My Jawwdinz (Mr Carmack & Big Makk Remix) (Another storming track from the Carmack, with the added madness of Big Makk, that flips Riff Raff into a dark and bassy creation)
– Michael Calfan – Breaking The Doors (An ever-catchy Calfan vocal hook with a funky drop spiced up by upbeat chords)
– Sander Van Doorn & Pep & Rash – White Rabbit (An intriguing sample worked into a classic Pep & Rash track that reworks familiar sounds perfectly)
– senojaynr + madbliss – silk (The pinnacle of minimal trap that squeezes booming bass and cascading melodies into a huge sound)
– Blur – Song 2 (San Holo Remix) (San Holo’s most ambitious track to date, tinkering with the classic britpop band for a sparkling trap tune)
