DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods – Part Two Launches Tomorrow

The end of the Slayer era is here.

DOOM Eternal

Bethesda and id Software have announced that DOOM Eternal’s final campaign expansion, The Ancient Gods – Part Two, will be launching tomorrow on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and on PS5 and Xbox Series X | S via backwards compatibility. Check out the full reveal trailer for yourself at the top of the page.

Is This The End of The Slayer Era?

It would appear so, as this campaign expansion is supposed to depict the culmination of the Slayer’s war against the forces of hell, with the ever lovable Doomguy squaring off with the recently revived Dark Lord of Hell. Fortunately, Doomguy has a few tools at his disposal to make the fight a little easier, including a Sentinel Hammer that’ll clobber enemies and grant more ammo.

How Hard Will The Ancient Gods – Part Two Be?

About as hard as the first part it seems, which is to say “pretty bloody hard”. GamesRadar+ spoke to Hugo Martin, the game’s director, who teased what the final boss fight against The Dark Lord will entail: “It feels more like a 1v1 PvP fight than it does PvE, to be honest. We did a lot of work to try to make that encounter feel like you’re really fighting an adversary – someone equal to you. He has an ability to actually take health from the player, for instance, just as you can take health from him. So he gains resources from you like you’ve been doing to other demons for the entire game, which gives it this really good back and forth dynamic.”

In other words, this is going to be tough.
