Some things are worth waiting for and it would be appear that Cyberpunk 2077 fans are still more than to wait for the game to finally be in their hands. Despite having no concrete release date, it’s been named the Most Wanted Game at the Golden Joystick awards this year.

This should come as no surprise for a game that has won over 100 awards despite not being out yet. Here’s what CD Projekt Red said about their win:

“The entire Cyberpunk 2077 team would like to thank each and every person participating in the Golden Joystick Awards for voting for Cyberpunk 2077, as well as all the support thus far — none of this would be possible without you!”

Cyberpunk 2077 beat fierce competition to scoop the prize, including The Last of Us: Part II, Death Stranding, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. They also included Battlefield V for some mad reason despite the game already being out.

The CD Projket Red venture infamously went AWOL for years after being revealed but has exploded back into life in 2018 with a new trailer and gameplay video. The rough footage shown so far depicts a massively ambitious game that its developers want to help them “change the industry”. As long as they allow you to shoot people in the nuts in slow motion, it should do just fine.

The 36th annual Golden Joysticks Awards show is still currently underway. You can watch it over on Twitch.

Update: the show finished the second I published this.
