Chris Jericho Isn’t Done with New Japan Pro Wrestling

In the aftermath of Wrestle Kingdom 12, Kenny Omega retained his IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship in a gruelling No DQ match with ‘The Alpha’, Chris Jericho. It was a bout that many critics and fans alike were quick to call Jericho’s best in years.

So, with that feud done and dusted and so many more eyes on the New Japan product, many thought that Y2J’s mission was complete.

How wrong we were.

The master of reinvention, Jericho made it clear he is not yet finished in New Japan when he attacked Tetsuya Naito after the main event of the New Year Dash show (which always follows the day after Wrestle Kingdom).

This exciting new feud plays into a war of words the two have been exchanging in Japanese media recently, with Naito voicing his displeasure over Jericho saying he was the real main event and continually bringing up his “double main event” status. Jericho, in response, called Naito “a stupid idiot”, but it seems they were planting the seeds for a match all along.

While it has not yet been announced when these two will be facing off one-on-one, it could be as soon as the next New Japan show, New Beginning, next month. Though they may hold off until the company’s next show in the US in March, which will certainly draw a big audience. This would make sense given how much NJPW wants to breaks into the US market.
