Captain Tsubasa: Rise Of New Champions Story Mode Revealed

We're kicking off again.

Captain Tsubasa

Bandai Namco have officially revealed the Story Mode for the upcoming arcade football/anime adaptation Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions. It’s called the Tsubasa Episode, and you can check out the latest trailer for yourself below. You don’t even need VAR to look at it.

In Tsubasa Episode, you follow the main character Tsubasa Ozora as he aims to take his team to glory in the National Middle School Tournament. The mode will recreate some of the biggest matches from the original manga source material, while rivals such as the Tachibana twins, Hikaru Matsuyama and Kojiro Hyuga will stand in Tsubasa’s way.

The game is chock full of special moves, acrobatics and tactics, many of which you can see in the trailer above. During the story mode, you’ll also be able to unlock special cutscenes should you fulfill certain criteria. These cutscenes will either recreate the original storyline, or offer some brand new surprises.

We had the chance to play Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions at a press event a few weeks back, and we had a lot of fun with the game. Make sure to check out our gameplay footage below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
