Bioshock: The Collection Released Today

Bioshock: The Collection

Today sees the release of the anticipated Bioshock: The Collection. If you’re like me, then you’re looking forward to revisiting these classic titles all in one handy compilation but if you’re not aware of this bundle, then here’s a few snippets of info to get you up to speed:

Firstly, the bundle contains two discs, with one disc comprising of Bioshock 1 and 2, and the other containing Bioshock: Infinite. This is due to the collection’s download size coming in at 70GB, so the multiple discs are necessary to contain everything. Not only does the bundle contain these three amazing shooters, but also features all 7 of the DLC packs for all of the games – in the UK, all at a price of only £34. Pretty incredible value, if you ask me.

As well as having all available content packed in with them, the games also all run at 1080p, and “up to” 60fps. This is pretty striking, considering the first game in the trilogy was released 9 years ago at the start of the Playstation 3’s lifecycle. So not only can you experience (arguably) some of the best shooters ever made, but you’ll be able to marvel at the stunning world that 2K have built while doing it.

The only content missing from the original titles is the multiplayer for the 2nd game, Bioshock 2, but it wasn’t revolutionary to begin with. Basically: you won’t miss it not being there when there’s so much brilliance in the other three titles’ single player storylines.

Though 2K are publishing the collection, a group known as Blind Squirrel Games are developing each title; they’re known for previously assisting 2K Games on the production of Bioshock: Infinite. Rest assured, 2K are overseeing everything, and various trailers released for the bundle prove how much care has gone into digitally remastering the games.

So yeah, that’s about it. For those trophy hunters out there, it’s confirmed that all three titles have their original trophy lists (minus the multiplayer trophies for Bioshock 2), which comes to a total of 201 trophies including 3 platinum trophies on PS4 – plenty to keep you going. Otherwise, I sincerely hope that you enjoy playing these games this week as much as I will. And for those who have never played a Bioshock title before: You are in for such a memorable, fantastic experience. I’ll leave you with the gameplay trailer for the bundle below, but feel free to comment what you’re most looking forwards to experiencing once you load up Bioshock and see that iconic lighthouse; a beacon of hope in a dangerously rough ocean.
