Beastars: Season 3 – Release Window, Story & Everything You Should Know

Beastars

The coming-of-age zoomorphic anime Beastars was a pleasant addition to the roster of binge-worthy watches, though was contentious due to its mature themes. Studio Orange brought to life two gratifying seasons of the anime on Netflix, and with so much appetite for more episodes, it’s hard not to ask whether there will be a Beastars: Season 3.

The second season of the anime blew everyone away with its epic reveal of the culprit behind Tem’s murder, and the visually stunning animation added tenfold to the anime’s quirky story overall. The second season wrapped up its 12-episode run in March 2021, and while the ending seemed to be where the anime was appearing to close the book, Netflix has now officially revealed that a new season is most definitely in the works.

So here’s a quick rundown of everything we know so far about Beastars: Season 3 heading to the small screen.

When Is Beastars: Season 3 Coming Out?

Netflix has confirmed that Beastars: Season 3 will be released in 2024. Currently, it’s under production at Studio Orange, and it will presumably adapt the remaining volumes of the manga.

While the number of episodes still remains to be announced, we speculate that Beastars: Season: 3 will have 24 episodes. Considering that the second season of the anime ended roughly around chapter 99 of the manga, 97 chapters still remain to be adapted. That makes a strong argument for the third installment airing with 24 episodes that’ll likely be released in the form of two cours.

What Is Beastars: Season 3 About? (Spoiler Alert)

Beastars: Season 2 concluded with the incredibly gory fight between Legushi and Riz. All seemed lost for Legushi as Riz had completely overpowered him for most of the heated clash, but when Louis arrived, he proposed that Legushi eat his leg so he could achieve his maximum strength.

Regrettably doing so, Legushi devours Louis’ leg and manages to subdue Riz. In the aftermath, both are sent to prison but Legushi is released soon after. The ending moments showed Legushi chatting with Haru, and deciding what’s next for them. Right now it’s not confirmed whether Beastars: Season 3 will adapt the remaining manga chapters or will Studio Orange throw some originality into the mix.

The likely case is that the third season will cover both the remaining arcs of the manga. The first one is the Interspecies Relations Arc which is about Legushi trying to find his place in the world after avenging Tem, and that will be succeeded by the final arc, Revenge of the Love Failure. The story will wrap things up with a saga concerning Melon, a crime lord, and the future that awaits Haru and Legushi.

For now, that’s all the info available about Beastars: Season 3, but as 2024 approaches, more updates will be shared, but if you still haven’t caught up with the anime then be sure to check out both seasons on Crunchyroll.
