Paramount have released the first trailer to upcoming horror film Overlord, directed by Julius Avery. The film depicts a group of US Paratroopers infiltrating enemy lines on the eve of D-Day, only to discover that Nazis are experimenting with supernatural forces in an effort to utilise them in battle.

Written by Billy Ray and Mark L. Smith, who are arguably best known for co-writing features on The Hunger Games and The Revenant. Some may remember that initial reportings for Overlord were that it was to be a sequel set in the Cloverfield franchise, however this was disputed by J.J. Abrams back in April 2018.
With a small cast, Avery has hired a mix of low-key actors, although many will recognise Jacob Anderson and Pilou Asbaek of Game of Thrones fame. Surprisingly, the script for Overlord was bought by Paramount all the way back in 2007 when Abrams conceptualised the idea, with Ray writing the screenplay. Mark L. Smith appeared later on to polish the script, however there is no information on why it has taken so long to begin production for this movie.
Overlord is set for release in the United States on November 9th, 2018. Are you looking forward to it? Drop us a comment below.
