No matter how many big franchises Telltale turn their attention towards, there’s always one series that fans want to see continue its story. The Walking Dead provided the foundations for the developers to branch out in other directions due to its rampant success, so it’s no surprise that many have been clamouring for season three.
It was due to arrive sometime this month, but Telltale have kept quiet up to now. People were getting mad, going so far as to hijack any news on Batman with demands for updates, so this will probably make a lot of people happy: The Walking Dead: A New Frontier is coming out on December 20th.
Available on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, iOS and Android, the series will release its first episode before the turn of the year but, in traditional Telltale fashion, nothing’s been announced for the rest of the episodes.
Pre-orders are available now digitally and a retail version will be coming out on February 7th. PlayStation owners can pre-order the game and also receive season two and the polarising mini-series Michonne for free.
Telltale have even opened up about what to expect:
“When family is all you have left… how far will you go to protect it? Four years after society was ripped apart by undead hands, pockets of civilization emerge from the chaos. But at what cost? Can the living be trusted on this new frontier? As Javier, a young man determined to find the family taken from him, you meet a young girl who has experienced her own unimaginable loss. Her name is Clementine, and your fates are bound together in a story where every choice you make could be your last.”
Interesting. I’m not going to hypothesise about what’s going to happen and just let myself be surprised, though there are a few things I want to see. Having recently played Batman, priority number one has to be improved stability on an engine that isn’t spluttering like an emphysemic war survivor. There will be a chance to find out more on December 1st at The Game Awards.
