Narcosis: The Terrifying Deep Sea Oculus Rift Game

Ask anyone who knows me well what I find fascinating and it’s likely one of the first answers will be, “the bottom of the ocean”. It’s almost like a different world as its inhospitable environment means that we will never know all there is to know, no matter how many fancy robots we send down and how much chin-stroking we enjoy.

Perhaps the fascination made me gravitate towards the original Bioshock games (and the fact that shooting fire out of your hands is never not a good thing). The king of the deep sea might have a competitor on its hands soon if early looks at Narcosis are anything to go by.

Though you might have heard of it already when it was making the press rounds in November and December last year, it’s definitely worth another look.

The brainchild of French students at ENJMIN, Narcosis pits you in the slow-moving shoes of a deep sea diver cut off from his oxygen source at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. With a tentative date of Q3 2015 for its release and intriguing compatibility with the Oculus Rift to consider, I for one can’t wait.
