After a long wait, PlayStation and Xbox players will finally be able to play Creep Jar’s excellent survival game Green Hell when it launches this June for PS4 and Xbox One, as well as PS5 and Xbox Series X | S via backwards compatibility.

Native PS5 and XSXS versions will be arriving at some point down the line.

What’s Green Hell?

Green Hell is a survival game in which you travel to the Amazon rainforest and must grapple with all of the beasties that lie within, not to mention some less than friendly natives. Intended to be a more realistic survival game, Green Hell sees players trying to balance standard survival mechanics, but also injuries and your sanity.

Let’s just say that you won’t quickly forget the first time you inspect your legs after being in water.

It’s a pretty superb entry into the survival genre that should really get more love, especially its absolutely superb Story Mode. The ability to play Green Hell with up to four players in co-op was also added post-launch, but for my money, you have to play the game’s single-player narrative first.

When Does Green Hell Release On Console?

No exact date for Green Hell on PS4 and Xbox One just yet, but it will launch sometime during June 2021. This follows a successful period for the game in Early Access on PC and subsequent updates after its 1.0 release in September 2019.

Curiously, Green Hell actually already came to Switch in late 2020. It’s a bit unusual because most 3D survival games come to Nintendo’s little dynamo way after everything else (if at all), but then again, Green Hell isn’t really like most survival games.
