The Women’s 2020 Money in the Bank is starting to take shape with three entrants confirmed for this year’s ladder match: Shayna Baszler, Asuka and Nia Jax. All three are very deserving of the opportunity to compete for the coveted title of Ms. Money in the Bank, but only one can walk away with the guaranteed championship opportunity down the line. We’ve taken a stab at predicting 5 likely winners of the Men’s ladder match, so naturally we’ll also predict 5 potential female winners too.

The Women’s division is quite possibly at its strongest, with Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Bayley all heading up their respective brands. There are several credible challengers waiting in the wings, only one big opportunity away at finally breaking out of the mid-card and making a name for themselves in a division that might soon start craving some fresh blood. The Money in the Bank match is the ideal time to build up a future champion, a worthy successor to those that have fought hard to change the game in Women’s wrestling.

Make sure you drop your own personal favourites to win this year’s Women’s ladder match in the comments section below.

1. Asuka

One superstar that has truly flourished under the recent empty arena adaptations is ‘The Empress’ herself, Asuka. Her over-the-top nature and eccentric mannerisms have helped give her career a fresh lease, positioning herself for a run at one of the top Women’s championships on either brand. Asuka has done a great job at maintaining the ailing Tag division alongside Kairi Sane, but it’s time for arguably one of the better competitors on the roster to step back into a singles run and finally forge a meaningful title reign on the main roster.

Asuka has managed to keep hold of her stature on the card despite taking some heavy losses since first dropping her undefeated streak to Charlotte Flair in 2018, making her a perfect candidate for the Money in the Bank briefcase. She’s made for a fun heel across the division and would be a pretty entertaining feature around the Women’s title scene, occasionally emerging to taunt the champion and build the suspense towards her eventual cash-in.

2. Nikki Cross

One superstar that has started to ride a wave of momentum is the deranged Nikki Cross. Having been kept away from the awful SAnitY stable during their main roster run, Cross has managed to carve out her own success by aligning himself with Alexa Bliss and capturing the Women’s Tag Championships on two separate occasions. Cross was made to look like an absolute star during her WrestleMania match against the Kabuki Warriors, making me believe that there’s a bright future on the horizon for SmackDown Live’s ‘Twisted Sister’.

If Cross is able to procure a place in this year’s Money in the Bank ladder match, then I highly suspect we might see her take home the briefcase after a truly shocking victory. Nikki might be a dark horse on paper but with the support she’s being given by commentators and booking, there’s no reason for her not to be able to step up into the championship picture. Plus it’d be nice for at least one of the former anarchist group to find success outside of NXT.

3. Sasha Banks

‘The Boss’ Sasha Banks has forever been teasing a feud with her BFF and current SmackDown Women’s champion, Bayley. The two Horsewomen have been involved in some of the most widely talked about wrestling matches to come out of the Women’s division, so naturally they’d once again be brought together to feud on the big stage when WWE are in need of something to wow the audience. But as it stands, they’re still totally fine with one another, despite the growing tensions that have stemmed from WrestleMania 36.

Should Sasha Banks gain entry to and win the Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match this year, then we could finally see the pay-off to the long and arduous wait to see this excellent feud once more, as well as Sasha’s well-earned run with the SmackDown Women’s title. Banks is a ready-made superstar that can easily slot herself back into the main event scene and start giving the entire WWE Women’s division some much needed exposure in the process.

If anything, Banks winning the Women’s briefcase would help tie up a lot of loose ends in the SmackDown Women’s division, and produce some of the most must-see matches this side of WrestleMania.

4. Lacey Evans

Since turning babyface, ‘The Sassy Southern Belle’ has often found herself involved in the Women’s title picture, feuding with both Bayley and Sasha Banks since the start of the year. That all culminated at WrestleMania 36, where Evans would take Bayley to the limit and come extremely close to capturing the SmackDown Women’s championship on the grandest stage of them all. Unfortunately that wasn’t the case, as Banks would interfere on Bayley’s behalf and cost Evans the match.

Regardless of her defeat, it’s hard to deny that Lacey Evans is a spectacular performer and has become quite the marketable attraction for the blue brand’s Women’s division. Should WWE be looking to go the distance with Evans as their top female star, then a big win at Money in the Bank this year would go a long way in selling her to the last few members of the WWE Universe who aren’t quite behind her yet.

Lacey is still in the infancy of her main roster career, but has managed to develop quite the resume of high-profile matches to help make her a credible champion. She’s solid in the ring and certainly a breath of fresh air to the title scene.

5. Shayna Baszler

Since arriving on the main roster, Shayna Baszler has managed to turn herself into one of the biggest threats to any female star in the WWE. Her dominance at this year’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view sold her as the natural successor to ‘The Man’ at WrestleMania 36. In a bizarre turn of events, Lynch defeated Baszler after taking a pounding throughout the majority of the match. Perhaps WWE are waiting to pull the trigger on ‘The Queen of Spades’ until when they can once again put on a show in front of a live audience, but the more losses Shayna takes between now and then, the less credible she’ll look when she eventually does win the title.

Of course, putting her into the Money in the Bank ladder match is a great way of shoe-horning her into a future championship match with Lynch, or whoever she chooses to challenge. This guarantees a future opportunity to right the WrestleMania wrong, and allows her to build up a few more wins in the meantime. Baszler would be a great name to have hold onto the briefcase for the foreseeable future, but the sooner she cashes in her title shot, the better.

WWE have a knack of failing to pull the trigger when a superstar is at their peak, Baszler could join the long list of stars that have failed because their stardom wasn’t exploited when over with the fans.
