Xbox Leak Shows Solid Snake & Peter Griffin Headline Fortnite: Chapter 5 – Season 1 Battle Pass

Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons

It wouldn’t be a new chapter of Fortnite without something absolutely major getting leaked, and it looks like that’s once again the case for the upcoming Chapter 5 – Season 1. The long rumoured Peter Griffin is going to be a part of the Battle Pass for the next season, alongside a less obvious pick: Solid Snake.

The announcement has been leaked early on the store on Xbox consoles , with both a rather slim looking Peter Griffin in a tuxedo and Solid Snake adorning the banner image, alongside all of the other Battle Pass skins.

The image also shows off a bunch of skins previously revealed in surveys, with what looks to be yet another Jonesy skin. He’s basically the main (original) character of Fortnite, so it probably makes sense that he keeps getting restyled. However, the fact that he’s been absent from the game for the last chapter probably means that he’s returning as part of the event.

Along with these giant crossovers, it seems that the new season will be titled Underground, presumably due to some resistance of some kind against the shadowy forces controlling the island — or something like that. Honestly, it’s hard to know ahead of the event that will close off Chapter 4 on Saturday evening, so this leak is pretty early. We almost always get a big leak for a new launch, but they’re typically on the day of the new launch itself. Getting a reveal more than 48 hours before intended is a wild bit of accidental button pressing, especially from Xbox who’s got previous with this kind of thing for Fortnite.

These crossovers would have almost been unimaginable when Fortnite first began, but recent seasons have shown that almost no IP is impossible for Fortnite to collaborate with. Family Guy makes sense as it was leaked years and years ago, with Peter Griffin’s possible existence in the Fortnite universe being a bit of a meme in the community.

But Solid Snake is a slight surprise. Konami has been making major pushes to revive the Metal Gear Solid IP over the last year with the release of the Master Collection, and there’s no better way of getting fresh eyes on your product than collaborating with the biggest game in the world.

Fortnite: Chapter 5 – Season 1 will begin on Sunday, November 3rd, 2023. Players will need to buy the Battle Pass to unlock Solid Snake and Peter Griffin, which costs 950 V-Bucks or a subscription to Fortnite Crew.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC via the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.
