Supermassive Games Partner With Bandai Namco For Dark Pictures Anthology

Dark Pictures

Supermassive Games, the clever team behind PS4’s narrative based horror ‘Until Dawn’ have pulled back the curtain on their latest gaming venture and we couldn’t be more excited for it. Dubbed the ‘Dark Pictures Anthology’, its first game ‘Man of Medan’ is scheduled for a 2019 release date.

In even better news, gamers will be thrilled to hear that this time around, you won’t need a PS4 to experience Supermassive’s mastery of storytelling, as the games are set to release on Xbox One and Steam as well PS4 because Supermassive are working in tandem with Bandai Namco on the project.

Supermassive’s head honcho Pete Samuels has gone on to say that each game in the ‘Dark Pictures Anthology’ will feature new stories, locations and characters and that the format will provide opportunities for the developers to explore different subgenres of horror.

Fans of Until Dawn will be pleased to hear that the ‘Man of Medan’ will offer a similar experience, where decisions will have a huge impact on whether your characters will survive. The trailer to the game reveals a group of deep sea divers looking for treasure who are pitted against untold nightmares of the deep.

In a press release about the announcement, Samuels said:

“The story of Man of Medan starts off on a dive boat in the South Pacific. With a rumoured WWII wreck to find, and plenty of on-deck partying to be had, our group of four young Americans and their skipper Fliss get ready for what should be the trip of a lifetime… but it doesn’t go quite to plan. As the day unfolds, and a storm rolls in, they find themselves trapped on board a ghost ship. Subjected to unimaginable stress and terror, they must try to find a way to escape the ship and its sinister history.”

Either way, it does sound like Supermassive Games are wanting to pull out all the stops for their new franchise and there will certainly be more to see in the coming months.
