The only real news to report on Star Wars: Episode VIII is that there is no real news. Disney are keeping as tight-lipped about is as usual, but some of its stars have been opening up recently with little tidbits. Oscar Isaac, who portrays Poe Dameron in the new films, has claimed that the next episode will be darker.
Speaking to Rolling Stone to help promote X-Men: Apocalypse, Isaac said:
“What happens now is the heroes get tested. All three of them, they get tested immensely.”
Not exactly a lot to go off there, Oscar. It was never going to be the case that Rey, Finn, and Poe were going to be able to and play beach volleyball on Tatooine for two hours, so it’s no surprise that it’s taking a darker route. Poe Dameron will also be more involved in Episode VIII, having spent a lot of the film being pretend dead.
Oh, and BB-8 is still all cool:
“BB-8’s doing all right. BB-8 gets tested too! Everybody gets tested! It’s the dark second chapter, but not really dark.”
Join us tomorrow when Mark Hamill lets us know that Luke will be wearing a robe.
Star Wars: Episode VIII is only still in principal photography and is scheduled for a December 15, 2017 release.
