Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Documentary Does Big Business On Indiegogo

Ask any Star Trek fan which TV series in the franchise is their favorite, and a good portion will say Deep Space Nine. Viewed as being significantly darker and edgy than the other shows, DS9 was also something of an anomaly as it took place primarily in the titular space station instead of exploring the galaxy and “boldly going where no man has gone before”.

With Deep Space Nine being so adored by Star Trek fans, it comes as no surprise that the upcoming documentary DS9: What We Left Behind, which examines the history and impact of the show, has now raised more than twice its $148,978 goal on Indiegogo.

Showrunner Ira Steven Behr and cast members of the show, including Michael Dorn, Armin Shimerman, Jeffrey Combs, Nana Visitor and Hana Hatae are all onboard (enjoy the campaign video they recorded below), although Avery Brooks, who played the lead role of Captain Benjamin Sisko, has yet to join the project.

The documentary will be directed by Lenard Nimoy’s son Adam, who previously helmed the acclaimed For the Love of Spock, which showcased his father’s life and legacy. I don’t think What We Left Behind could be in safer hands.

If you’re a Trekkie (sorry if you take offense to that word) and you feel that you want to do your bit the help the franchise, then head over to Indiegogo and help make DS9: What We Left Behind a reality.
