Sniper Elite 5

Sniper Elite 5 is the latest game in the long-running stealth action series, which once again sees hero Karl Fairburne sniping Nazis in the face, this time in an attempt to stop a secretive mission called Operation Kraken. With a raft of online features as part of the game, PlayStation players will likely want to know if they’ll need PlayStation Plus in order to enjoy everything Sniper Elite 5 has to offer.

The short answer is yes, players will need an active PlayStation Plus subscription in order to enjoy all the online features that Sniper Elite 5 has to offer. Because Sniper Elite 5 is a premium game, a PlayStation Plus subscription is required to enjoy the online portion of the game, as only free-to-play games can be played online on PlayStation without a PS Plus subscription.

Having an active PS Plus subscription allows players to to enjoy several different features in Sniper Elite 5, including the invasion mode, which allows you to invade the campaign of another player as a powerful Axis Sniper Jager, or you can try to take on the invaders yourself during your own campaign.

Beyond that, there’s also a full co-op campaign, allowing you to team up with a friend to complete the game’s nine levels (plus one bonus DLC level). There’s even a traditional, competitive multiplayer mode, and a co-op survival mode where you try to last against swarms of Nazis. Of course, if you don’t have an active PlayStation Plus subscription, you can still play the main campaign solo on PlayStation without having to worry about online features.

PlayStation Plus costs £6.99/$9.99 a month, or £49.99/$59.99 a year for the most basic level of Plus, and that will give you access to the online modes in Sniper Elite 5. PlayStation Plus also comes with exclusive discounts on the PS Store, free games each month that you can add to your library that’ll disappear if your subscription lapses, and cloud saves.
