You know we love you, right? I mean, I know we don’t show it in the most obvious ways sometimes; we don’t always just straight up profess our undying, unwavering, unquestioning love to you like maybe we should, but you know we do, right? It’s just… it’s just we’re not all that great at expressing it with words.
Sure, we unload an unending artillery of words in your direction at all times because we just like to talk to you, but saying how we feel gets us all anxious, angsty, and pent up inside, so we try to show it in other ways. We shower you with gifts for example.
A particularly frequent gift we shower upon you is the gift of SINGLE OF THE WEEK, which is just about as frequent, if not exactly as frequent, as the weeks themselves. We lavish you with the absolute best song released that week for you to soundtrack it with and maybe, just maybe, think of us while you do. Well, this week, we’ve kind of gone a little all out and we’re spoiling you with two singles of the week, because why not? Sometimes you deserve something a little extra special.
Admittedly we can’t take all the credit because, you know, we’re not writing the songs (but goddamn it we’re finding them!), and this week’s writing credit goes to seminal rising star turning supernova, Tensnake, who has offered up his split single/EP, Keep On Talking/The Walk, so as we may gift it to you. For those unfamiliar, Tensnake is the name what Hamburgian producer and DJ, Marco Niemerski, goes by when dishing out heftily delicious deep house, and has been since 2006 – though he came to particular prominence with his universally acclaimed single ‘Coma Cat’ back in 2010.
‘Keep On Talking’ and ‘The Walk’ act as a kind of yin and yang release, with ‘Keep On Talking’ working its way through tropically funky bass, stabby organ synths, a nice bit of plink and plonk, rise and fall, some falsetto hooks and a old school summer vibe, and ‘The Walk’ bringing a somewhat moodier and broodier monster of minimalism, steadily building on grinding hypnotism as it layers out and falls in on sultry smooth grooves. Day and night summer anthems in the making, best of both, all for you. I told you we love you. You know we love you right?
