Bow down to Big Banter.

This Monday’s edition of RAW has gone down as one of the most news-worthy episodes in some time. Not only did the WWE Universe witness the 2019 King of the Ring finals between Baron Corbin & Chad Gable, but also the return of several WWE superstars and legends.

The King of the Ring finals was the talking point of the night, with both Corbin and Gable heading up the first tournament finals since 2015. Gable put up a fantastic fight, but couldn’t quite keep ‘The Lone Wolf’ down. Corbin nailed Chad with a huge End of Days to finish the match and walk away with the crown and scepter. King Corbin’s official coronation will take place tomorrow night on SmackDown Live.

With Clash of Champions now behind us, it was time to shift our attention to a new Universal Championship challenger, The Fiend. After laying waste to Seth Rollins following his victory over Braun Strowman, Wyatt made his intentions very clear for Hell in a Cell, a chance to capture the Universal title for the first time in his career. The Fiend made his presence felt throughout the night, addressing Rollins in his latest installment of The Firefly Funhouse, while adding a new entry to the list legends that have fallen to the mandible claw, that being the returning Kane.

Mayor Glenn Jacobs made his return to WWE as part of last night’s episode. Not only did ‘The Devil’s Favourite Demon’ save Seth Rollins from a post-match beatdown courtesy of Roode, Ziggler & The OC, but he also secured his first championship since 2013. Jacobs captured the 24/7 Championship from R-Truth after swearing a Tennessee official in as referee. Truth would later reclaim his title after sneaking his way back to the arena on top of the Mayor’s limo, getting the surprise roll-up after they arrived.

Another return came in the form of ‘The Bulgarian Brute’, Rusev, who returned as part of Mike and Maria Kanellis’ baby gender reveal party. In an attempt to rile up her husband, Maria implied that Mike wasn’t exactly the Father to her unborn child. At first, the former 24/7 champ suggested that Ricochet might be the Father, but after suffering a quick loss, Maria brought out Rusev to further humiliate her doting hubby. Mike seemed willing to just take a beating from the former US Champ, who delivered a massive Matchka kick before locking in the Accolade for the win.

In the background of the RAW Tag Team division, The Authors of Pain have remained silent since WrestleMania. Last night, Akam and Rezar broke that silence as they staked their claim at the Raw Tag Titles. Looking for renewed competition, AOP will no longer be waiting in the wings for a chance of a real fight. With teams like The Viking Raiders, The Revival and The OC now battling on a weekly basis, it’s going to be a very interesting scenario when the former RAW Tag Champs are added to the mix.

So overall, a pretty eventful night of pro-wrestling. What was your favourite moment from the night? Let us know in the comments below.
