As weird as it is to say, Remedy Entertainment feel like “cult” developers. Most of their games have been warmly received, but they’ve never managed to smash through the glass ceiling and reach proper commercial success, which isn’t helped by their exclusive relationship with Microsoft over the past decade.

Now, with an eye on widening the availability of their games, Remedy Entertainment are bringing their engine to PS4. With their next game, codenamed P7, in the works, we could finally see the first Remedy game not exclusive to a Microsoft platform for the first time since 2003.

The Northlight technology, which powered the polarising Quantum Break, will be available for PS4, according to a post on Remedy’s official website:

“Remedy is also working on a game project codenamed P7. The company’s strategy is to release the game on a wider range of platforms, which is why Remedy is developing its Northlight technology also for PlayStation 4 consoles.”

The last Remedy game to grace a Sony console was Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, which incidentally has the greatest video game box cover art ever.

Nothing at all is known about P7, but Remedy are still keeping busy: they’re working with Korean devs on content for CrossFire 2.
