Pokémon Sun and Moon Starting Pokémon Unveiled

Pokemon Sun and Moon

As promised, the Pokémon Company released our first piece of real information regarding the new games, Sun and Moon, today.

It came in the form of a pair of trailer consisting of, most importantly, the three starter Pokémon, and the two legendaries. With the longer of the two trailers being barely over two and a half minutes, there is not much information to glean.

The three new starters are obviously one of the most important reveals of the trailer.

First is my personal favourite: Rowlet, the grass starter. Rowlet resembles an owl and is categorised as a Grass Quill pokemon, with the ability Overgrow.

Second is Litten, the fire starter. Litten has a striking black and red appearance, and is categorised as a Fire Cat Pokémon, with the ability Blaze.

Lastly, (and seemingly least favoured already), the water starter, Popplio, the sea lion Pokémon, with the ability Torrent.

Other than this, we get our first look at the two legendaries, which, as expected, feature on the box art of the games. Sun is represented by a striking Lion-esque Pokémon, whilst Moon has a more ambiguous Pokémon, resembling a dragon or bat.

On top of the this, the scenes we see of the trailer, and the music hints at a far more tropical location, supporting theories made about the original trailer. The little we see of the scenery includes what looks to be a volcano, multiple beaches and hilly terrain.

The Japanese trailer is significantly more heart-warming, emphasising the way Pokémon brings people together. This trailer also shows off the ability to once again customise your trainer, a hugely popular feature of Pokémon X and Y.

Pokémon Sun and Moon is to be released worldwide on November the 18th this year, except for those of us in Europe who have to wait until the 23rd.
