PES 2019 Headlines Underwhelming July 2019 PlayStation Plus Games

Oof. It's one of those months.

PES 2019

The PlayStation Plus lineup for July 2019 has been revealed, and it appears that Sony wants everyone to get a little sportier as we move into summer. It’s an odd duo of games this coming month, that’s for sure.

First up, PES 2019 is what you could call the marquee act for the month; a game that will become more or less redundant in three months when eFootball PES 2020 (yes, they really did rename it that) launches. Developed by Konami, PES is the ugly duckling to EA’s FIFA, it typically having the better gameplay at the expense of general presentation and licenses. It’s a decent game of football. Sorry, eFootball.

The second game is one that I don’t admittedly have too much familiarity with. Horizon Chase Turbo is an Outrun-inspired racer oozing with style. It’s currently sitting on an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam and a 77 on Metacritic, so it’s definitely not a bad game. It’s probably not going to be a name that appeals to the PS Plus subscribers who want bigger bang for their buck, though.

As expected, subscribers haven’t reacted too well to these new games. Not at all.

oof

Both of these games will be available from July 2nd. June’s picks, Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and Sonic Mania, are still up for grabs until then.

Thoughts on the upcoming games? My theory is that Sony know people will be going out and enjoying the weather more over the next month, so they are saving their budget for the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn and Gravity Rush 2 instead.

Right?
