Michelle Yeoh is our big winner in the Best Actress category. Yeoh wins the Oscar for her performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once. Other Oscar contenders include Ana de Armas (Blonde), Michelle Williams (The Fabelmans), Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie) and Cate Blanchett (Tár). The award was presented by Jessica Chastain and Halle Berry, who both won the Oscar in the same category. Chastain won in 2022, while Berry took home the award in 2002 for Monster’s Ball.

This is Yeoh’s first Oscar win, and she makes history as the first Asian to win the Best Actress award. Yeoh was the favourite to take home the award, and already had good momentum on the awards circuit, receiving the Best Actress award both at the Golden Globes and the SAG awards.

In her speech, Yeoh dedicated her award to her mom and all the other moms out there. She also urged those watching to keep striving and dreaming: “For all the little boys and girls who look like me watching tonight, this is a beacon of hope and possibility. This is proof that dreams dream big and dreams do come true. And ladies, don’t let anyone tell you you are ever past your prime.”

What a woman, what a win.
