If that headline doesn’t get you salivating then I’d check your nerd gland as it’s definitely not working properly.
Silent Hill games have fallen into a bit of a lull as of late with many fans of the series and casual gamers struggling to connect to the classic horror in the same way that they did with the original few entries. Noticing this, Hideo Kojima, (creator of the Metal Gear series) set himself to crafting his own unique vision back in 2012. Nothing much had been heard until Gamescom 2014 when it was revealed that he had a couple of mates to help him out.
In an hour long trailer during Sony’s conference at the computer entertainment expo, the Playstation 4 exclusive was showcased in all its glory with one or two no doubt jumping for joy when they saw Norman Reedus’ face appear on-screen. As well as supplying his roguish chops to the game, Reedus will also be providing voicework for the mysterious character but it’s not yet known who he’ll be playing.
Kojima, in a poorly translated quote, has said of the game: “Silent Hill is in closed room setting and doesn’t require full action so that we can focus on the graphic quality. Enemy doesn’t have to be a lot or move fast. It only requires scariness by graphics and presentation. As being a creator making action game in open world, such game is very enviously attractive. Wish someone could create this on FOX engine.”
It’s not quite known how Guillermo del Toro fits in to the production but by and large, his name being attached to anything makes it at least 90% better. Interestingly, Reedus’ first ever film role was in del Toro’s Mimic way back in 1997. With all these names featuring in the trailer below, the upcoming 2015 release of Silent Hills could prove unmissable.
