Square Enix have shared a new piece of artwork created by the game’s art director, Toshiyuki Itahana, for the upcoming remaster of the formerly Nintendo exclusive Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.

The artwork focuses on characters from the four tribes in the game: Clavats, Lilties, Yukes and the Selkies.

The remaster comes with the obligatory updated visuals, online multiplayer, new character voiceovers, cross-play, and new dungeons to conquer.

As someone with very fond but equally fuzzy memories of the original game on the GameCube when I went over to my friend’s house to stumble through it, I’m pretty intrigued by this remaster. It was almost unheard of at the time to have a co-op RPG (particularly one with such wild Game Boy Advance integration), so I’d love to see how this turns out next year.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered launches for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android devices on January 23rd, 2020.
