Mortal Kombat 1

NetherRealm and Warner Bros. have finally announced that Mortal Kombat 1 is real, showcasing a whole new world that’s been created by Fire God Liu Kang at the end of Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath. In this new era of MK, we’ll see fan favourite characters, or kombatants if you prefer, reimagined with new backstories, twists on established rivalries and more. With that in mind, we’re chronicling the “komplete” roster of Mortal Kombat 1, so you know who you’ll be playing as when the game drops in September.

Mortal Kombat 1 – All Confirmed Kameo Fighters

The Mortal Kombat 1 official FAQ mentions that the game will feature brand new gameplay mechanics, one of those being Kameo Fighters. Basically, Kameo Fighters are a separate roster of partner characters that players will be able to call in throughout the battle to assist in combos and the like.

In theory, the feature sounds similar to games like Marvel Vs Capcom or Skullgirls, which allowed players to form teams, calling in other members as assists during the fight. However, it doesn’t seem like Mortal Kombat 1 will have tag mechanics like MvC and others, making the Kameo Fighter system seem more like the assists seen in anime games like Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm. Those games feature unique rosters of partner characters who can be called in during a fight.

The confirmed roster of Kameo fighters are as follows:

– Cyrax
– Darrius
– Ferra (coming post-launch as part of Kombat Pass 1)
– Frost
– Goro
– Jax
– Johnny Cage (coming post-launch as part of Kombat Pass 1)
– Kano
– Khameleon (coming post-launch as part of Kombat Pass 1)
– Mavado (coming post-launch as part of Kombat Pass 1)
– Motaro
– Sareena
– Sektor
– Shujinko
– Sonya Blade
– Stryker
– Sub-Zero
– Tremor (coming post-launch as part of Kombat Pass 1)

Mortal Kombat 1 – Who To Expect In Kombat Pass 2

Now that the full roster for Mortal Kombat 1 has been confirmed, including the members of the first Kombat Pass, many are now wondering if we’ll see more classic kombatants in a potential Kombat Pass 2. If that second season of DLC does happen, we imagine it’ll offer recognisable characters instead of trying to introduce Mokap or Meat back into the franchise. With that in mind, we can probably expect characters like Kano, Sonya Blade and Jax to make a return, instead of just sitting on the Kameo bench.

Still, the most recent trilogy introduced some new kombatants that have become firm favourites among the community, including D’Vorah and Kotal Kahn. It’s possible we could see those characters making a return in Mortal Kombat 1, combining legacy kombatants with some of the new blood from Mortal Kombat X and MK 11.

Mortal Kombat 1 is set to launch on September 19th, for PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PS5, Xbox Series X & S and the Nintendo Switch.
