Mel Brooks Thinks Spaceballs Sequel Might Happen Thanks to Star Wars

Spaceballs

With Star Wars movies, spin-offs, and games planned for the next four thousand years, fans are going to eventually want to call for Star Peace Negotiations. Until that day comes, however, we have a lot of stuff to look forward to and throw our money at.

One of the saving graces of the massive Star Wars boom might be a Spaceballs sequel, according to Mel Brooks. The 1987 spoof classic is in vogue again with the studios thanks to the massive performance of anything with the Star Wars name attached to it.

During a Q&A to celebrate Young Frankenstein, Brooks was asked about Spaceballs 2 and said the following:

“Well, you know, I’m doing it. MGM is slightly interested in doing it because of the new Star Wars…They think maybe, so we’re talking.”

You can already see Netflix writing up an offer to Brooks if MGM don’t want it.
