Lucha Underground Now Available on Netflix US, Canada & Latin America

Lucha Underground Netflix

Ever wondered what Lucha Underground is all about, the entrancing blend of soap opera and wrestling? Well, now’s your chance. From today, its first two seasons are available on Netflix if you are in the US, Canada, or Latin America.

Netflix’s “adoption” of the solid WWE alternative will mean that it can reach a wider audience, ninety million potential new fans, to be exact. While it may not be at the popularity level of WWE, Underground’s episodic format is likely to intrigue plenty.

Those who already watch Underground have fallen head over heels in love with it. The show currently sits at a 9.1 on IMDb, no doubt helped by each episode’s concise length and different kind of storytelling. The current roster includes the likes of Rey Mysterio, Johnny Mundo, Ivelisse, and Prince Puma.

Speaking about the show’s addition to Netflix, Lucha Libre FMV’s General Manager Dorian Roldan believes that it’s ideal to help them reach a Latin American audience:

“For the company I think the biggest impact will be in Latin America. It is the first time the product is available to them and we are confident they will love it as much as our domestic Believers do. Also the company will feel the impact of the increased exposure with both English and Spanish speakers in the U.S., as this is the first time Season 2 has been released in Spanish in the U.S. as well. We have big plans for Lucha Underground as a TV show on El Rey Network but also as a brand, this partnership helps us bring our product to another consumer.”

There’s no word if the show will be coming to other regions, such as Netflix UK.
