Lookism: Season 2 – Everything You Should Know

Lookism
Lookism

Lookism is a Korean animated series released by Netflix. Adapted from the webtoon by Park Tae-Joon, Lookism follows the story of Park Hyung Seok, a high schooler who is bullied for his obesity and looks. After transferring to a new school, he is determined to start a new life. One night though, he finds himself inhabiting a new body, one which is handsome, tall and fit, with his original body sleeping next to him. With this new-found ability to jump between the two bodies, Hyung Seok lives a double life: his handsome body becomes popular and well-regarded by his peers, and his original body faces continued discrimination by society.

The main theme of the show is just that: lookism. It’s a form of discrimination where good-looking people receive special treatment because of their looks, while unattractive people are looked down upon for simply being unattractive. Considering the subject matter and other themes, this manhwa adaptation gets very heavy at points, but it does have moments of levity as well. At the end of Lookism: Season 1, Hyung Seok and his friend Deok Hwa have just performed at the school festival. With a compelling story at its core and based on source material which is still ongoing, why isn’t there a Lookism: Season 2?

When Is Lookism: Season 2 Being Released?

So far, there is no news on whether there will be a continuation of the show with Lookism: Season 2. There has been nothing official from Netflix or Studio Mir about a second season for the show. At the time of writing this, Lookism: Season 1 is still a relatively new release, so a new season could be possible.

We will update this if or when that changes.

What Is Lookism: Season 2 About?

The original source material of Lookism still has chapters – or ‘episodes’ – coming out, with over 400 chapters that have been released already. Lookism: Season 1 just covered the first 27 chapters, concluding with the festival arc.

If there was ever going to be a Lookism: Season 2, the first story arc they would be adapting would be the PaprikaTV arc, which follows Deok Hwa starting to do live streaming, with Hyung Seok encouraging as well as introducing new characters. If Lookism continues being adapted at its current rate, there would be enough content to run the show for 15 seasons.

Which Studio Is Making Lookism: Season 2?

Lookism: Season 1 was adapted by Korean animation company Studio Mir, and it was released by Netflix. Unless there are any significant changes in their working relationships, it is likely the two will work together again on Lookism: Season 2.

Where Will Lookism: Season 2 Be Aired?

Lookism: Season 2 will most likely air on Netflix. As of this moment in time, Lookism: Season 1 is only available for streaming on Netflix.

You can also read the manhwa that it’s based off of on Webtoons, though a lot of the characters’ names have been changed in the adaptation process, so keep that in mind.
