PlayStation Plus is an integral service for PlayStation players, allowing users to not only communicate with their friends in voice chat parties and claim free games every month, but also play premium multiplayer games online with each other. Gran Turismo 7 has plenty of online modes, so do you need a PS Plus membership to fully enjoy the game?
The answer is yes, you need PlayStation Plus for GT7 online. While you’ll be able to enjoy the single-player World Tour campaign, amassing and upgrading your fleet of automobiles, you won’t be able to play the game’s online modes like multiplayer and GT Sport, the competitive scene of daily events. Still, you’ll be able to compete on the World Circuit and earn your licences in the single-player portion of the game. That said, you will need to be connected to the internet in order to access pretty much most of the game.
PlayStation Plus costs £6.99/$9.99 a month, or £49.99/$59.99 a year, with no option for a free trial. Every month, subscribers are also able to claim several “free games” to add to their library, though these games will become unavailable if their subscription lapses. On top of that, there are a host of other incentives like cloud saves, additional content for certain free-to-play games and special PlayStation Store discounts.
Once you have your PlayStation Plus membership sorted, you can join your friends in online lobbies, along with competing in the GT Sport events. Here, you’ll be able to earn credits and rewards that you can use in your single-player World Tour campaign, so it certainly pays to have a Plus membership.
