EA Show Off Twenty Minutes of FIFA 18 Gameplay Footage

Ronaldo FIFA 18

In what has become an increasingly popular method of showing off new games, EA livestreamed the most substantial amount of gameplay footage for FIFA 18 we’ve seen to date.

The footage below was taken from said stream and features Isco and other Real Madrid players playing against each other as Real Madrid. EA dropped a nut by not showing MK Dons vs. MK Dons in my opinion, but what can you do.

It’s an annual sports title, so the changes don’t exactly leap out of the screen – it’s more a case of incremental updates and (supposed) improvements each year. That being said, FIFA 18 looks a lot like a sideways venture so far, offering very little evidence that there’s going to be much new apart from the number on the cover.

One little thing I did notice, however, was the way some of the players moved; Ronaldo, in particular. Realistic player movement is a USP for FIFA this year, and he does indeed look like a panicked bird trying to escape from a hoover.

Still, there’s little evidence yet of the big, impactful changes I asked for in my review of FIFA 17:

“With the introduction of a single-player narrative, it’s clear that they aren’t resting on their laurels and waiting for the FUT money to roll in, but are trying to once again lead a footballing revolution, just like they did when they wrestled the crown from PES all those years ago. Gameplay itself, though, still isn’t quite as fluid or as satisfying as it should be, but don’t write them off from making something truly wonderful next year. All the ingredients are there, it’s just about how EA Sports cook it.”

What do you think? Does the gameplay give you enough incentive to pick up FIFA 18?
