To coincide with Halloween, Toby Fox has released Deltarune: a new project he was teasing a day before by asking everyone on Twitter to return to his account in 24 hours.

The final tweet, a link, takes you to a website at which you can download Deltarune for PC, itself an anagram of Undertale.

On the site, there are warnings about downloading and playing the game:

* THERE MAY BE MOVING OR FLASHING IMAGERY.
* YOU MAY HAVE TO OVERRIDE SECURITY PROTOCOLS TO USE THE PROGRAM.
* FOR PUBLIC SAFETY, YOU ARE ADVISED TO REFRAIN FROM DISCUSSION OF THE PROGRAM FOR 24 HOURS.
* YOU ACCEPT EVERYTHING THAT WILL HAPPEN FROM NOW ON.

The download is a small one, about 77 MB (and also completely free), and starts off with a character creation. That’s all I am going to say at this point; you have to experience it for yourself, as the website suggests. I can confirm, however, that it is a game. Ooh.

Undertale was a smash hit when it launched in 2015 and has since gone on to be ported to many platforms, most recently Switch, in the years following. After receiving widespread critical acclaim and an adoring fanbase, it looks like Deltarune is the highly anticipated next project from Toby Fox, so watch this space to see how the mystery unfolds.
