The final entrant in the 2019 Hall of Fame class has been announced, a man of many gimmicks, but best known as Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake. Beefcake became one of the most popular babyfaces from the Golden Era, who found himself featured alongside some massive stars like Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and The Ultimate Warrior.

Beefcake was decorated in gold when he won the Tag Team Championships with Greg ‘The Hammer’ Valentine early on in his career. Brutus never quite managed to capture any singles titles during his tenure, but he definitely left his mark on the singles division in several high-profile matches at WrestleMania against The Honky Tonk Man and Ted Dibiase.

‘The Barber’ almost had his career cut short in the early nineties after a debilitating injury. After spending years on the sidelines hosting the famous ‘Barbershop’ talk segment, he fought to make a comeback at WrestleMania 9, forming ‘the Mega Maniacs’ with The Hulkster.

Bruti became one of the many former headliners who jumped ship to WCW throughout their rise and fall. ‘The Barber’ evolved into ‘The Butcher’ and later ‘The Zodiac’, who played an integral part in the terrible yet equally hilarious Dungeon of Doom storyline. The Butcher found himself vying for the WCW World Championship at Starrcade against former friend and partner Hulk Hogan, which truly marked the peak of his singles career.

Beefcake remains one of the most under-appreciated characters from the early years of professional wrestling, and is without doubt deserving of an induction into this year’s Hall of Fame. Congratulations to Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake.
