Blizzard Showcasing Overwatch 2 PvP Gameplay Next Week

Hook it into my veins.

Overwatch 2

Overwatch’s new game director Aaron Keller has announced in a new developer update that the team at Blizzard, along with some of the Overwatch League teams, will be putting together a livestream to showcase more gameplay for the upcoming Overwatch 2.

When Is The Overwatch 2 Livestream?

The livestream will be taking place on May 20th at an as yet unspecified time. The livestream will last for around two hours, but if that’s not enough information for you, the development team will be hosting a Reddit AMA on May 24th to answer more questions about the game’s development. No doubt, there’s going to be at least 100 questions regarding Jeff Kaplan’s sudden departure from the Overwatch team last month.

What Will The Overwatch 2 Livestream Feature?

The livestream will focus on Overwatch 2’s PvP content, which up until this point, hasn’t really been talked about. Aside from the reveal of a new mode and some maps, the core focus of Overwatch 2’s content reveals have been related to the PvE co-op modes and campaign.

Aaron Keller will be joined on the livestream by lead designer Geoff Goodman, art director Dion Rogers and other members of the Overwatch development team. They’ll be taking a tour through some of the new maps that’ll be coming to Overwatch 2, along with the design choices that have informed the game’s development.

Of course, if you’re expecting huge news like a release date or something similar, you might go wanting, as Aaron closes the update with: “Just to set expectations, everything that we’ll be showing is under development and still a work in progress. And we will be talking more about Overwatch 2’s PvP later in the year, so there’s still more to come.”
