With a whole new Fortnite comes a whole new map. Fortnite: Chapter 2 has been a revelation for the game as a whole, it making it feel fresh with plenty of gameplay changes and quality of life improvements. Players are still getting used to it, so nobody really knows where the best place to land in Fortnite: Chapter 2 is. There’s no place quite like Tilted Towers, and nothing has been added quite like it.
There are plenty of new locations in Fortnite: Chapter 2, some of them inspired by the classics while some seem entirely new. Places like Craggy Cliffs and Slurpy Swamp are original and decent places to land, but a remix of an old location may be the best Fortnite place to land in Chapter 2.
Weeping Woods is an homage of sorts to Wailing Woods, a long-standing named location from Chapter 1 that lasted from Season 1 to Season 8, being replaced by a volcano. While a great place to get resources, the problem with Wailing was that it was always a bit too far out of the way for most rotations.
With Chapter 2, however, Weeping Woods is a lot more centralised, making it an appreciated and underrated place to land.
Here’s where you can find it. Remember that if you’re new to the season, you will have to discover Weeping Woods before it gets added to your mini-map.
As you can see, Weeping Woods takes up a large section of the southwest area of the map. There are a few huts scattered all over the named location, but the heart of the spot is where you can find two lodges.
The biggest one is our recommendation for where you should land.
This main lodge houses decent floor loot and also some chests. With Chapter 2, Epic have made it so that chests spawn 100% of the time. In previous seasons, they would randomly spawn, so sometimes you could just have really bad luck.
You can find two chests in this main lodge behind the chimney.
And there’s also one in a room.
Once you’ve looted up, you can then go on over to the secondary lodge. If someone beats you to landing at the main lodge, this isn’t the worst backup plan.
This lodge has two chests, the first of note being behind the counter as you walk through the front door.
The second is in a laundry room just underneath the roof.
The great thing about Weeping Woods is that you can usually take your time before you have leave thanks to its central location. It’s also a quiet spot in general, so if you want to farm materials, you will usually be unopposed.
As you would expect for a wooded area, there are a tonne of trees which will get you to max mats before long at all.
Once you’ve collected all the mats you need, you can then grab yourself a rod and get stuck into Chapter 2’s best new mechanic: fishing.
If you fish in one of these spots where you can see fish disturbing the water, your chances of getting a rarer, better fish go up. A lot of players this season prefer to use fish over traditional heals as they give health and shield almost instantly.
Stocked up on fish? You can easily follow the stream to get into whichever circle you need, but if you follow the stream in Weeping Woods north until you see a bridge, a boat should be docked.
There isn’t a lot of mobility in Chapter 2 at all, so this boat could make a huge difference in getting you into the circle safely and quickly.
To recap: Weeping Woods is the best place to land in Fortnite: Chapter 2 because of its centralised location, decent amount of loot, loads of opportunities to farm materials, relative quietness, nearby fishing spots and mobility options. If you’re struggling to find a place to call home this season, give Weeping Woods a shot.
