Welcome home, Brewster.

Hot off the heels of September’s Nintendo Direct and yesterday’s special reveal that Sora is the final character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Nintendo will have another digital showcase on October 15th for Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

As was announced during September 23rd’s Nintendo Direct, this new update will include details on how Brewster, the demure pigeon who runs a coffee shop called the Roost, will join the Switch version of Animal Crossing. Brewster first debuted in 2005’s Animal Crossing: Wild World for the Nintendo DS, and had been present in every main Animal Crossing title until his absence in the launch version of New Horizons.

The New Horizons community has been fairly starved for updates in recent months, as Nintendo abruptly slowed down its roll of new content at the end of last year. Nintendo has had a spotty track record of regularly updating and supporting their online endeavors, such as Super Mario Maker or Splatoon.

Next week’s Direct will hopefully reveal more new content beyond our returning feathered friend (although I’ll be happy even if it is just Brewster, because Brewster is lovely). The presentation will last 20 minutes and will be streamed on youtube.
