Slayer skills in Dead Island 2 are part of your zombie-slaying deck that usually trigger different status effects for completing certain feats during combat. However, they aren’t unlocked at the start of the game and players must instead make a good bit of progress through the story before they can vary up their deck.
To unlock Slayer skills in Dead Island 2, players must complete Justifiable Zombicide, the tenth story quest. This should take around ten or so hours of gameplay, though it does depend on how much additional content players partake in. In the quest, players team up with Sam B to get some guns from an old collector’s house, with them having to clear the garden of zombies (and Screamer alpha variant) to complete the quest.
Once the mission is complete, players will unlock Slayer cards and also guns to use.
Players can customise their Slayer cards by pausing the game and then selecting Skills. More Slayer cards are unlocked by defeating certain zombies and completing quests, and they can also be found out in the world. Players can also increase the amount of Slayer cards they can select by making story progress and levelling up.
Dead Island 2 is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X & S.
