Skateboarder Jason Dill Reveals New Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater Coming This Year

And apparently EA don't want to make Skate 4.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater

Professional skateboarding “dude” Jason Dill recently appeared on The Nine Club podcast, hosted by fellow skateboarder Chris Roberts, revealing that there will be a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game launching later this year. The clip in question was isolated by the Twitter user @Nibellion, which you can check out below.

The news of a brand new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game has been something of an open secret. Back in March, the band The Death Set revealed in a now deleted Facebook post that they’ve licensed five songs for the upcoming game, a post that was also captured by @Nibellion.

As for the rest of the podcast, Dill revealed that EA had been in contact with him regarding the release of a Skate 3 mobile game, something that Dill has no interest in being involved with: “I got a call from the EA people about 10 months ago, and they said, ‘Hey, we want to talk about the Skate games. This woman emailed me, and she said, basically, ‘Hey Jason, we want to do a mobile version of Skate 3,’ and I wrote back and I said, ‘What else?’ She wrote back, ‘No that’s it.’ So I wrote back, ‘Look, no big deal, no one wants your stupid mobile version of Skate 3… make Skate fucking 4 already!”

Dill echoes the sentiment of a large amount of gamers that have been hounding EA for Skate 4 for the past decade, but it hasn’t come to pass. If Jason Dill is to be believed, EA they revealed they have no interest in creating Skate 4, to which Jason simply replied: “Well have a lot of luck on Need for Speed 29. I won’t be in your stupid mobile game.”

The fact that EA aren’t even entertaining the idea of making Skate 4 is saddening, as there clearly seems to be enough demand for the product around the world. That said, by Dill’s own admission, this conversation took place 10 months ago, so plans might have changed since then. If EA are adamant on re-releasing Skate 3, a Switch port probably wouldn’t go amiss, so long as it isn’t as ridiculously priced as the Burnout Paradise port anyway.

In the absence of Skate 4, it’s good to see that there will be a new Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game on the horizon, which hopefully will manage to surpass the subterranean bar set by Pro Skater 5. Failing that, we still have games like Session and Skater XL to look forward to. Are you excited for the future of skateboarding games? Sound off in the comments.
